Start next year’s outing from a template

Create the outing

1. Go to your templates library from the dashboard.
2. Enter the new tee sheet date.
3. Find the template for this outing and select Create trip.
4. You land on the new outing with the rounds, courses, formats and group size already in place.

The date you enter becomes the new outing’s start date. For an outing that runs over more than one day, open it afterwards and set the proper end date - the template creates the right number of rounds regardless, but the outing’s own date range needs that one extra step.

The player list starts fresh

A template keeps a rough count of how many people played last time, but not who they were. The outing it creates starts with nobody on it, exactly like any brand-new outing, so there is nothing to clean up. Add this year’s players the same way you always would: paste them in, upload a spreadsheet, or add them one by one.

Rules that apply across the whole outing, such as rotating playing partners or putting any short group last, come across with the template regardless of who ends up on the list. A rule aimed at two named people, though, needs both of them already on the new outing to reattach itself, and because the player list is not part of the template, they usually are not there yet. If a keep-apart or keep-together rule does not reappear once you have added this year’s players, set it again there - one setting, not a rebuild of everything you decided last time.

A recurring template does this on its own

If a template has Create the next one automatically switched on, this same refresh happens without anyone starting it by hand: a new outing is created for you ahead of time, with the player list starting fresh exactly as it would if you had selected Create trip yourself.
