Save an outing as a template

What comes across

From the outing’s page, choose Save as a reusable template and everything that makes the outing itself is kept: every round with its course, format and tee times, the group size and handicap mode, and every rule you have set - who to keep apart, who to keep together, and the standing rules that apply across the whole outing, such as rotating playing partners and putting any short group last. On a team competition, the team names and colours are kept too, though captains are reassigned fresh each time rather than carried over.

A multi-round tour keeps its shape exactly: a Stableford (see the glossary) on the first day, Foursomes the next, in whatever order the society plays, all saved together as one template.

What is left behind

The dates are not part of a template - that is the point, since you set new ones each time you use it. Neither is the player list: a template remembers roughly how many people played, but not their names, so the outing it creates starts with nobody on it. And a template copies structure, not results - last year’s scores, standings and handicaps are never carried forward.

Saving it

1. Open the outing you want to reuse.
2. Under Reuse this setup, select Save as a reusable template.
3. Give it a name you will recognise next time.
4. Save. The template appears in your templates library, ready to build a new outing from whenever you need one.

If this is an outing you run on a set schedule, such as a monthly society day, you can also tick Create the next one automatically while you save it. A new outing is then created for you ahead of time, on the lead you set, rather than waiting for you to start one by hand.
