Waitlists and late dropouts

A full outing waits its turn

Capacity is set on the rounds themselves - cap one at, say, 24, and once that many replies have said yes, anyone who says yes after that lands on the waitlist rather than straight onto the outing. Leave every round uncapped and there is no limit, and no waitlist either.

Position on the list is decided purely by when someone replied: whoever said yes first is next in line, in the order they actually joined it rather than any order you might have in your head.

Removing a player promotes the next one automatically

Take an attending player off a published outing - they have pulled out, or you are removing them - and the waitlist does not just sit there. The next name in the queue is promoted to attending straight away, and if the outing already had a tee sheet, that player is swapped into the gap left behind at the same tee time, in the same group. Nothing needs regenerating for that, provided the round hasn’t started scoring yet - once scoring opens on a round, the app leaves that seat untouched, so check it yourself.

You can promote by hand too

You do not have to wait for it to happen on its own: reorder the waitlist with the up and down arrows if you want a different name to go first, or set any waitlisted player straight to attending yourself, whether or not they are next in the queue.

Nothing needs re-sending

The outing’s public link does not change when someone drops out or a waitlisted player is promoted. Whoever already has it just sees the current version the next time they open it - there is no new link to send round and nothing to reprint.
