Events versus rounds - what’s the difference
A round is golf with a tee sheet - a course, tee times and groups. An event is anything else on the calendar that still wants an RSVP, from a dinner to an AGM, and it does not need an outing at all.

A round belongs to an outing: it has a course, tee times, groups and (if you are scoring it) a result. An event is plainer than that on purpose - a name, a date, and somewhere to be - with nothing to generate and nobody to place in a group. Both use the same RSVP link and the same attending, maybe and can’t make it replies.
An event does not need an outing at all
You can link an event to an outing so the replies feed straight into that outing’s roster and its waitlist, but linking one is optional. A prize night, an AGM or a social with no golf attached is created exactly the same way, just with no outing to point it at - it still gets its own RSVP link, deadline and reply counts.
When to use each
If it needs tee times and groups, it is a round on an outing. If all you need is a headcount and a yes or no, it is an event - whether or not there happens to be golf involved that day.
